This Teapot was made of original ore zini from Huanglong Mountain. This clay is very versatile and is good for use with most kinds of tea. Click here for more information on zini and tea pairing with Yixing Teapots.

This teapot is from our personal collection. Unfortunately the certificate and artist information are not available for this teapot. It was made sometime in the 2000s and purchased in the 2010s. It has been used a handful of times to make tea (white and shou puerh tea), and has been rinsed and kept dry and clean.

The style of this teapot is known as "Monk's Hat teapot" 僧帽壶 seng mao hu. This is a very difficult shape to render and was done entirely by hand. This pot is known as fully handmade, as unlike Yixing teapots that are half handmade, the sculptor does not use a molding tool to shape the body, but instead shapes everything, including the body, by hand. Fully handmade teapots require more labor and more skill to construct. Each one is entirely unique, reflecting the style of the artist.

You can read more about fully handmade teapots in our blog entry here.

Preparation Before Use

This teapot has already been prepared for use and used for a number of tea sessions. We recommend a quick warm water rinse, a second boiled water rinsed, and then it will be ready for use.
