Beginning this April, we are introducing a new section to mudandleaves.com – Tea!
After years of tasting, travelling, networking, and building relationships in the tea world, we are ready with a small but carefully selected collection of teas we are proud to introduce.

Our model
We are using the same model of partnership that has shaped our ceramics business as we move forward with tea. Like our handmade ceramics, we only stock tea we drink and enjoy ourselves from suppliers we trust. We have partnered with tea farms and tea factories to provide these teas to overseas customers at the same price that they are available to Chinese tea drinkers.

Our tea
Our selection of teas falls under three main sections, Seasonal teas, Puer tea, and Non-Puer tea.

Seasonal teas will be sourced from a number of partners. We are happy to kick off our tea selection with the king of spring tea – Longjing (Dragon Well)!

Our selection of Puer and other specialty tea from Yunnan has been sourced with the help of our partner Tianming Tea Company.

Tianming Tea Company
Tianming Tea Company centers around a Tea Factory in Menghai, Xishuangbanna Yunnan and a headquarters in Guangzhou. It is ranked in the Top 100 Guangdong Tea Companies for quality. The owner Mr. Luo Guowu 罗国武 splits his time between operations in Yunnan and Guangdong, overseeing production, and drinking tea with clients, pupils and friends in Guangzhou.

As the headmaster of the Guangdong Guoming Tea School, and member of the Guangdong Tea Committee, Luo has mentored many professional Tea Sommeliers in Guangdong. He has worked in the tea industry for over 50 years, beginning his career in a state-owned tea factory for black tea. After decades of work and study in the tea industry, Mr. Luo opened Tianming Tea Company in 1999. Mr. Luo’s company is a favourite for discerning black tea and puer tea drinkers in Guangdong.

We have been enjoying Tianming sheng puer and black tea for years and are happy to finally be able to share this tea with people outside of China.

Other Tea
As our tea selection expands in the coming months we will be introducing more of our tea partners and their tea.

Siyan comes from Guangdong, China. A student of Chinese tea and tea culture, Siyan not only sources the finest Porcelain, Ruyao and other ceramic wears from our partners, she also researches the history of ceramics in China.

Patrick first arrived in China over 10 years ago. A tea lover and Chinese ceramic collector, Patrick has too many teapots and probably drinks too much tea.
